Robert B. Peceny, P.E., S.E.

Mr. Peceny is a Professional Structural Engineer with over 20 years of engineering experience in his home state of Indiana as well as numerous other states in the Midwest and along the East Coast. His experience encompasses a wide range of structural engineering projects including industrial, commercial, transportation and institutional structures. Mr. Peceny possesses expertise and knowledge in the new design and rehabilitation of not only buildings and building components, but also many other structures and systems such as bridges, equipment supports and foundations, crane runways, pile foundations, and retaining walls. This knowledge and depth of experience has enabled Mr. Peceny to successfully complete and effectively manage a variety of complex structural engineering projects. Mr. Peceny is experienced in working with building owners, architects and contractors while ensuring all engineering and inspection work is completed in a cost-effective manner, with adherence to accepted engineering practice and applicable codes.

The first three years of Mr. Peceny’s structural engineering career was spent at a downtown Chicago transportation consulting firm designing highway and railroad bridges. The following nine years were spent in Northwest Indiana designing and managing projects related to new design and renovation of structures found in heavy industrial plants. Eight of those years were spent as the Manager of the Structural Engineering Department. In 2000, Mr. Peceny was one of three Principals who established Enspect, Inc. At Enspect, Inc. Mr. Peceny has been Project Manager and Engineer of Record on numerous commercial, industrial and institutional buildings ranging in size from 5,000 to 350,000 square feet.

Affiliations
Mr. Peceny is a founding member of the Indiana Structural Engineers Association (ISEA) and is currently a treasuror for ISEA. In addition, Mr. Peceny is a member of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC), the American Concrete Institute (ACI) as well as the Association for Iron and Steel Technology (AIST).

James M. Kirk, P.E., S.E.

For more than 20 years, whether dealing with constructability issues on new projects or offering specialized designs for renovations, Jim Kirk has been consulted to identify simple solutions to problems that at first may appear to be complex. Large or small, Mr. Kirk maintains a hands-on approach will all his projects, while remaining committed to high-quality, cost effective design and construction administration services. Clients have come to expect this from Mr. Kirk, who routinely leads a project team that stresses dialogue with the other design professionals and those within the construction industry, whereby ideas can be communicated clearly and effectively throughout the duration of a project.

After a brief time with Skidmore, Owings and Merrill in Chicago, Mr. Kirk led several design and rehabilitation projects while with the structural engineering firm Tylk Gustafson and Associates until accepting a position with a firm where he met and eventually formed Enspect, Inc. with his two partners Bob Peceny and Mike Mohr. While with Enspect, Inc. Mr. Kirk has continued work in many sectors of design including education, health care, heavy industry, high-end residential and commercial.

Thanks to Mr. Kirk’s leadership, several significant and challenging projects have been successfully completed at Enspect, Inc., including those that have necessitated the use of unique foundation and lateral-resisting systems, specialty component designs in a wide range of building materials, and most recently in the field of sustainability.

Michael F. Mohr
Vice President/Principal Engineer

Mr. Mohr has a cumulative 30 years of engineering experience in the inspection, rehabilitation and upgrade of many different types of structures, primarily associated with heavy industry. Structures include EOT Cranes, crane runways, bridges, stacks, gas cleaning systems, buildings and building facades, highlines, material handling systems and piping systems. He is experienced with performing and managing structural inspection efforts as well as the preparation of design and detail drawings for rehabilitation. Mr. Mohr ensures that projects are performed in compliance with OSHA, MSHA and Client Safety Requirements, as well as project specific safety requirements, and has extensive experience with Confined Spaces, De-energizing Equipment – Lock-Out Tag-Out Procedures, special rigging, etc. During the rehabilitation phase of the projects Mr. Mohr has extensive experience working with the owners and/or tradesmen to assure that all work is being performed in accordance with contract documents. After spending the first three years of his career in his hometown of Pittsburgh, PA conducting in-depth structural inspections of bridges, Mr. Mohr relocated to the Northwest Indiana area. From there, he spent the next 20 years performing inspections and providing design and detail repair drawings for various structures for an engineering consulting firm. Of those 20 years, 11 years were spent as the Department Manager of Field Services with additional responsibilities of Regional Safety Supervisor. In 2000, Mr. Mohr became one of the three principals who established Enspect, Inc. and has been the Project Manager for numerous industrial and commercial inspection and rehabilitation projects.

Paul W. Schroeder, P.E.

Mr. Schroeder started his structural engineering career at Inland Steel Company serving many different roles including Construction Manager, Senior Staff Engineer and Project Manager. Some of his duties included coordinating the scheduling and start-up for the 80” Tandem Cold Mill, leading the planning and performance testing for hydrochloric acid pickling tanks, managing electrical and mechanical maintenance departments, planning and scheduling of quarterly maintenance outages, leading design activities for blast furnace stoves and managing a departmental capital improvements project. Mr. Schroeder joined Enspect, Inc. in 2004, bringing with him 25 years of engineering experience to the firm. Mr. Schroeder is proficient in the areas of mechanical and structural engineering for the installation, repair and/or modification of material handling, piping, crane, conveyor, environmental, HVAC systems and the structures that house and/or support these systems. He has also developed structural steel erection procedures, performed structural evaluations of existing structures, determined load carrying capacities and designed structural modifications to enhance the load carrying capacities of these items. He is also experienced in the justification, design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of a wide variety of mechanical and electrical systems.
