The following are few examples of the types of structures for which Enspect, Inc. has provided engineering services within the commercial sector:
Richland School Additions – Crest Hill, IL
Enspect, Inc. served as Engineer of Record for the 40,000 sq. ft., single-story addition in 2003 and the 64,000 sq. ft., two-story addition in 2006 to this elementary school. The structural systems incorporated in the designs included structural steel with moment frames, composite beam floor framing and masonry bearing walls.
Bethel Church Addition – Crown Point, IN
Enspect, Inc. was Engineer of Record for this 16,000 sq. ft. addition to an existing church. The building consists of a pre-engineered building together with a conventionally designed portion connecting the new structure to the existing.
Retail Center – Valparaiso, IN
Enspect, Inc. was Engineer of Record for this 10,000 sq. ft. retail center. The building was constructed of a steel frame structure with light gage curtainwall and masonry veneer.
Harley Davidson of Crete – Crete, IL
Enspect Inc. served as the structural Engineer of Record for the 11,200 sq. ft. addition to the Harley Davidson dealership. The addition includes a showroom, a second floor office area, and a two-story storage area. A vehicle elevator allows cars and trucks to be stored on the second floor. The structural design utilizes a combination of structural steel columns and beams, reinforced masonry walls, hollowcore concrete floors, in addition to open-web steel joist floor and roof systems.
Fountain Park – Schererville, IN
Enspect Inc. served as the structural Engineer of Record for the two-story 16,800 sq. ft. office/retail building. The structure was designed using reinforced masonry for the perimeter walls. A structural steel beam/column along the middle of the building supports the open-web steel floor joists, while the roof joists clear span the full width of the building. Closely spaced reinforcing in the masonry walls allowed for the use of large windows and doors on the front of the building.
St. Iakovos Greek Orthodox Church – Valparaiso, IN
Enspect, Inc. provided structural engineering services for the design of the 6,500 sq. ft. church and the attached 19,000 sq. ft. cultural center. Several structural systems were utilized in the design of the buildings, including structural steel frames, light gauge steel roof trusses, steel joists, reinforced concrete arches and masonry bearing walls.
Overture Center for the Arts – Madison, WI
In this challenging project, portions of existing buildings remained while others were demolished and replaced with new structure. Enspect, Inc. provided structural engineering services to the general contractor to ensure the safety/stability of the remaining structure during construction. The principal challenge of the project was to ensure the stability of the 50’x100’ mechanical room atop the building while the majority of the structure was removed below it.
